After moving into my photo studio, I knew I wanted to start some kind of lasting project but had no idea what it was until the night my friend Elizabeth came over. I was taking photos of her and then it hit me. I wonder how many people you meet in a year? I then decided to document every person that visited my place for a whole year. A little bit into the project I started asking my visitors questions about them and so I decided to ask two simple questions, Who are you? What do you love? It was at that point that the project started to be more than just taking a photos of people who visited me. There was weight to their answers. The project started to became more about who these people were, rather than how many people visited. After two months into the project I had amassed over 100 visitors. I knew at that point that this project was going to bigger than I could've imagined.
I knew from the start that I wanted to turn it into a coffee table book and throw a party/concert inviting the visitors back to connect, share and hopefully make new friendships from it. The Visitors party on 11.19.10 is just that... a celebration of not just the culmination of the project and to raise money for the publishing, but to celebrate these individuals who have turned the project to what it is and who inspire me to create and celebrate the community.
