I Shoot Rockstars http://ishootrockstars.com/ I Shoot Rockstars en-us 2010-07-29 22:36:04 Fashion! Turn to the left. http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/fashion_turn_to_the_left I posted up a photo a few blog posts back on our shoot with jewelry designer, Laura Lombardi. We had the best time working & collaborating with Laura on her lookbook shoot. She is a tremendously talented person. Keep a close eye on her, big things on the horizon. Check out the digital copy of the lookbook our friend, Nick Santore designed. While we're on the subject of fashion... we revamped the fashion section and added some new photos. We've been putting a lot of focus on fashion this year and are excited to work on new projects with some great designers & stylists in the Chicago area. Be on the look out for more fun shoots this summer! Kylelamere 2010-07-14 Nature Prefers Natural http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/nature_prefers_natural   Like many others, I am a sucker for strobes and all things associated with lighting equipment. I eventually plan to own everything AlienBees makes. There's just so many options and choices, it just excites me with endless possibilities.  On the flip side, I've been moving away from the lights and experimenting more with natural light situations. Many of my photo friends/idols have natural light down as if mother nature was always working in their favor. I hope to attain some of that skill and talent as I progress in photography.   I just recently finished reading Annie Leibovitz's book, At Work. It's a really great read and I recommend it to all types of creatives. It was nice to get insight on all of Annie's most famous shoots and to see how she progressed as a photographer throughout her career. I was really inspired by her earlier work, the work that depended on natural light.   Last week, I was at my friend Angie's apartment hanging out and I noticed there was this glowing, beautiful natural light coming through her window. We seized the opportunity to shoot around. I was extremely hesitant at first to shoot her in a revealing fashion. I had tried nude shoots before in a controlled, "strobe" setting and it always turned out to be a disaster.   I figured the scene was too gorgeous to pass up. I was really happy with what we walked away with. I think that one of the best ways to capture the human figure and form is through natural light settings. Of course...the body, in itself is a natural, delicate thing. Kylelamere 2010-07-03 Banter Trailer Trash Debauchery with The Juliets http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/trailer_trash_debauchery_with_the_juliets   As many of my friends will tell you, when I get into something... I really get into it. I probably annoy the hell out of my friends when it comes to new music I'm into but, it's only cause I am super passionate about it. After this weekend, I cannot speak or scream higher praises for my good friends, The Juliets. The Juliets are an amazing band from Michigan. Their music is so refreshing and damn catchy. The lyrics and compositional layout of their music is better than most bands I've heard in years.     We went out Sunday night for a bit to capture the quirkiness of the band. Inspired by all the Trailer Park Boys dvd watching we did that weekend, drinking and other randomness that's too explicit for these parts interwebs. If you haven't yet, please do yourself a favor and check The Juliets out! Kylelamere 2010-06-22 Banter It's a Wrap - 319 Visitors http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/its_a_wrap___319_visitors One year ago as I was hanging out with Elizabeth in my studio shooting around and talking about future shoots, an idea hit me as I was taking her portrait... I wondered how many people I'd meet over the next year? By taking relatively the same portrait of everyone that visited my studio, I started to personalize the project and ask each person the same two questions... "Who are you and what is one thing that you love?"    I am thrilled and am surprised that I have had over 300 people pass through my doors in one year! I have met some of the coolest people in Chicago and beyond. I want to personally thank all 318 of you who passed through and were willing to take part in this project.     The fun doesn't stop just yet. My good friends over at Bright Bright Great have graciously offered to help layout what will become the VISITORS coffee table book. On top of that I am planning a gallery show this fall and hope to have every photo of all of you hanging up along with the launch of the coffee table book. Stay tuned for that! Cheers!  Kyle Kylelamere 2010-06-09 PDN's: The Look http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/pdns_the_look We've been working on some fun projects over the past couple months. It's going to be a wild month! People are in the streets partying, bbq's are taking over the air space and that's alright with me. We have some fun updates to share with you.  The past couple weeks I've been hitting the event circuit and have been making frequent stops to Beauty Bar. Clayton Hauck has been so gracious to invite me along to shoot his Beauty Bar Tuesday events. It's a lot of fun and a chance for me to get out of the studio and meet some of Chicago's finest. I uploaded last nights Veoba.com's launch party to our Facebook page. Click here to check them out and don't forget to become a 'fan' or 'like' us or whatever facebook decides the cool term of the week is. and then... on May 21st & 23rd...Poster design: Aaron AlbarranWe are so excited to welcome our good friends from Brooklyn, Asa Ransom back to EP Theater! If you've never been to a concert at EP Theater, I can explain. About a year ago I started teaming up with EP Theater where we invite bands to come play intimate shows. Brooklyn's Agent Strange and Chicago's Violetness will be performing as well! We hope to see you out. Visit the Facebook event page for more info! Kylelamere 2010-04-27 Banter Code of Conduct http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/code_of_conduct Spring has done us right in Chicago. It's a time for new ideas, new beginnings, new friendships and of course... new tattoo shops! My good friends over at Code of Conduct are about to open the freshest tattoo shop in Chicago. I had a chance to pop in last week and shoot the press photos for Rebecca, Floyd & Ryan... The owners and wild animals in charge. Anyone I know who has tattoos are always looking for an excuse to get another one. Make Code of Conduct your next stop. I wish them the best... Cheers! Kylelamere 2010-04-22 Banter Farewell Art School Girl. http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/farewell_art_school_girl I've had the honor of meeting some of the most creative people in Chicago over the past year. Sadly, one of them is moving across the country to begin a new journey. Amy Rowan is one of those rare people you meet in your life who are truly genuine. I've had a blast over the past year collaborating with Amy and her company Art School Girl. You couldn't ask for a nicer person to work with. You will be missed here in Chicago, Amy. Best of luck to you and all the new opportunities you will encounter. Cheers! Kylelamere 2010-03-20 Banter Visitors http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/visitors I think about life statistics a lot. I wonder how many steps I have taken in my life? I wonder how many times I have damned God? I wonder how many times I have said 'I love you' and meant it? I decided to see how many people I'd meet in a year. I would take their photo when they visited me. I would ask them who they are what is one thing that they love. 9 months into the project and #216 visitors later, I am elated that over 5,000 visits have been paid to the on going flickr page. For those who have not seen or been a part of it (yet), I would like to share the gallery with you. Who knows, you may a person or two in there. Visitors Gallery! Kylelamere 2010-02-19 Banter Reason To Give: Help-Portrait Day! http://ishootrockstars.com/blog/post/reason_to_give_help_portrait_day On December 12th, 2009 celebrity photographer, Jeremy Cowart called upon all photographers across the world to give back and take photos for the sake of giving back to the community. With the help of Dawn Hancock and her Reason To Give program, we shot family portraits for the Humbolt Park community. We had an overwhelming response from the families who wanted to participate. I enlisted the help of my friend and fellow photographer, Brendan Shanley to come and shoot with me. It was a great day and we had a great team to make it all happen. Special thanks goes out to Shannon Medic for keeping everything so organized and of course to EP Theater for lending us the space for the day. Check out the video from our day!
